MEGAFLEX S.A. is an Argentine capital company which starts its activity on the first day of September 1992 in an industrial lot located in Temperley, Province of Buenos Aires, from the agreement and partnership of four people, three of them with specialization in Engineering and the other in Foreign Trade. This partnership was conceived with the objective of mounting an Asphalt Membrane Plant, and by doing so, to enter a market which was as competitive as growing at that time.
The name Megaflex was chosen due to its superlative meaning of flexibility, which is the outstanding characteristic of this kind of products.
By the end of 1993 and the beginning of 1994, Megaflex registers the first exportations. The destination which received the first membrane rolls outside Argentina was the neighbor county Uruguay, an accessible market since there were no local factories there.
Afterwards, it was able to enter the Brazilian market, as well as Paraguay and, later on, Chile.
As time went by, it is decided to change the institutional colors, from the French blue with white background to the emblematic black with yellow background, the two colors which the human eye has best reception for.
In 1995, thanks to the effort performed, a parcel of over 52.000 m2 is acquired in Almirante Brown Industrial Park in the province of Buenos Aires. It is there where the Asphalt Plant starts its operations in 1997. This enabled MEGAFLEX to gain independence, since it begins to have cutting edge technology as a great factory company, reaching the best quality standards in the local market and entering the international market as well.
By that time, the company strengthens its distribution channel in the home market, inaugurates two branches in two important Argentine provinces such as Mendoza and Córdoba which enabled MEGAFLEX to be closer to the clients in the interior of the country.
By the end of 1999 MEGAFLEX receives from the President of the Argentine Republic the award “EXPORT –AR”, an unprecedented mention for a manufacturer in this field.
With the arrival of the New Millennium, the Administrative Office is moved definitely to Almirante Brown Park, settling the whole company structure in the industrial lot.
At the beginning of the year 2003, MEGAFLEX becomes the major Argentine exporter of foiled asphalt and appears as one of the main building materials companies with the biggest amount of exportation.
At the moment, the company is member of the following organizations:
- Argentine Waterproofing Institute
- National Roofing Contractors Association (USA)
- IRAM, as a consulting company for the elaboration of standards
During the same year, in which the company had its 10 Year Anniversary, as a consequence of the great sustained growth, MEGAFLEX acquires a 30.000.000 m2 installed capacity of membrane. In June of 2004, the work to certificate standard ISO 9000 is initiated.
This search is associated to a quality improvement, strengthening the agreement made with the Consortium for Commercial Promotion of Cataluña, Spain, at the beginning of 2003, entering the DIVERPYMEX plan, organized by the Fund Credicoop Bank for the search of overseas markets.
That very same year, Clarín Arquitectura, one of the most important newspapers for Architects and Builders in Argentina, includes MEGAFLEX in the ranking of Most Prestigious Companies for building supplies in Argentina, and it is remarked as the growing company of that year.
In January 2005, it achieves the certification of its Quality Management System by the International Standard ISO 9001:2000.
In 2006, the expansion work in the plant is ended. With this new investment, the company reaches 60.000.000 m2 of installed capacity in different kind of foiling, thanks to its new production line with the last generation automation system, added to the own capacity of asphalt manufacturing of different kinds which reaches 60.000 tons annually.
During that year it was also invested in infrastructure, research and development for the launch of a new product: No Crack Membrane, a technological innovation created by this company.
The success obtained by MEGAFLEX with the b launch not only had a significant impact in the building market but also was awarded with the Mercurio 2007 Award by the Argentine Marketing Association, being the most important national acknowledgement for being the “No Crack Aluminum” the most successful commercial strategy in its category.
2007 was a memorable year of achievements for the company. Apart from the Mercurio Award, and continuing with its social responsibility work, its Primary School is inaugurated thanks to the support of the General Directorate of Education and Culture of the Province of Buenos Aires and the Directorate of Adult Education and Professional Education, with the objective of granting its employees the opportunity of finishing their studies.
Because of this among other reasons, MEGAFLEX was ranked in 2007 for the second time, in the 100 Best Place to Work by the institution of that name.
In 2008, the company celebrates the inauguration of the Secondary School, making its employees possible to continue their education. And it is also awarded the “Enrique Shaw Award” by the Christian Association of Company Managers to companies which have social standards for the contribution to the community.
With that very sense, MEGAFLEX signed an agreement with UOCRA (Argentine Building Union), committing to grant waterproofing training. This agreement has a national scope and its objective is to bring the new technologies to the workmen in order to give them better qualifications.
It is clear that from the beginning this company had a vision of expansion which is being fulfilled in the remarkable development of the local market, having five branches throughout the country such as in Córdoba, Mar del Plata, Mendoza, Rosario and Tucumán.
During 15 years it has sold its product to more than 16 countries around the world and keeping the Quality Management System ISO 9001:2000 Standard for three years now as part of the commitment with its clients.
Forward-looking, the company is strengthening its local market and working on the overseas markets in a solid and fruitful marketing plan.
